Joshua Ondura Ogendo, Ph.D

Prof. Ogendo is an Associate Professor of Crop Protection, Principal, Nakuru City Campus College, Egerton University and President, International Society for Pesticidal Plants. He holds PhD in Crop Protection, MSc in Agronomy, MSc Grain Storage Management and BSc in Agriculture. He previously served as the Director,CMRT Project (2019-2021), Dean, Faculty of Agriculture (2014-2018 and the Chairman, the Department of Crops, Horticulture and Soils (2009-2014). Prof  Ogendo has wealth of experience in participatory adaptive research, community outreach and consultancy services focusing on bio-intensive pest management, enhanced food and nutrition security, underutilized crops and livelihoods in smallholder agriculture. He has been Principal Investigator of 18 and a Collaborating Scientist in 25 research / community grants and consultancies with a total value of KES 2.15 Billion. Prof Ogendo has oversaw the signing of MoUs with international (Virginia Tech, USA; Zhejiang University, China; Natural Resources Institute, UK; FAMU, USA; Bowie State University, USA), regional (ILRI University of Rwanda, University of Juba, etc) and national (Pwani University; KCB Foundation, Agtech Consulting Ltd and Media Council of Kenya). Prof Ogendo is a prolific scholar with 53 publications in refereed scientific journals, 4 book chapters’/ book editorials,1 patent application and member of 14 professional bodies and working groups. He is a Member of the EAC Research and Development Working Group. He has successfully supervised 8 MSc and 4 PhD students. Prof. Ogendo has personally contributed to human capital development in Kenya at masters (9) and doctorate (5) levels in agriculture.
